Flash floods caused by torrential rain and intense downpours occur frequently around the world. The Republic of Korea has developed the Flood Early Warning System, which analyzes real-time observation data collected from flood-prone areas, as well as the Automatic Warning Facility, which automatically activates warning sirens based on the level of precipitation. These technologies was adopted by the Philippines, Laos, Vietnam, and Fiji.

Anticipating Potential Flood Risks

Using rainfall and water-level data, the Flood Early Warning System identifies areas at high risk of flooding and provides timely alerts to the public.

Automatic Warning Facilities

The Automatic Warning Facilities Comprising precipitation monitoring stations, water-level monitoring stations and warning stations, collect and analyze precipitation and water-level data in real time and rapidly disseminate warnings based on the results.
